Finger Paints - Flashy over China Glaze - Crimson

Ohhh my goodness, this is a beauty! I know most people are sick of this multichrome flakie (a la Essie Shine of the Times, Sallie Hansen Hidden Treasure, Color Club Snow-Flakes, etc.) but I don't think I will ever ever get sick of this, especially when layered over a dark base.

These pictures are more blurry than my typical already blurry pictures, but I find that it captured the multi colored awesomeness better.
One thing that's always been an issue with flakies is their application. Applying them like regular polish doesn't work - you have to pat it on and then smooth it out. For some people it's a pain... I'm just excited to get my multicolor madness on my nails!
Do you own any flakies? Are they as multi-colored as this beauty?

Finger Paints - Lemon Sour

You know how pastels like to apply streakily? How if you're not careful about your layer thickness you end up with really thick, weird nails that annoy you because they look so damn unnatural? Yeah, that's what happened here.
This was three coats. I couldn't use two because the polish was still too streaky. Of course, I may be at fault here for not applying the coats thinly enough, but let's just stick with blaming the fact that this is a pastel polish.

Do you see how thick my nails look? I'm all for thick nails along the free edge to help protect the nail, but this was something else. It was that thick all the way through. Not to mention on my middle finger in the top pic you can see a singular bubble on the nail. That was my fault. I didn't clean my nails of the oil I'd just applied to my cuticles.
Anyway, I've been having really bad luck with polishes lately. This one gave me a bad case of lobster hands. I'd never understood how people didn't wear colors because it didn't fit their skin color until I wore this.
Today I'm also wearing a color that doesn't quite give me lobster hands, but the hue just doesn't fit my skintone. Seriously, I go 5 years without dealing with any bad colors and now I'm 2/2 on wearing colors that either look bad on me or make my skin look bad.
On the bright side, I'm wearing more colors more frequently!

Birthday Splurging: Nail Polish Edition!

I've spent all of the bright sunlight hours of today taking pictures and preparing for some wonderful new posts that are upcoming, as teased by this picture above. Now that the sun is going down and it's no longer bright and sunny I want to take a moment to share another part of my birthday splurge before beginning a massive Spring Cleaning project. Now that we've officially gotten everything we need for the house (minus a kitchen table, but we have little TV trays that we can eat off of, and they save space because they can fold up) we've needed to clean and organize and since I know M isn't going to do it, I'm taking this evening to do it while he's at work. Here is essentially all the nail polish I've gotten over the past month in celebration of my BIRTHDAY!!!
These are just listed in chronological order of when I got them.

China Glaze White Cap, Blue Sparrow, Tree Hugger, and Designer Satin.

A 4-pack from China Glaze in purple shades intended to assist in creating an "ombre" manicure. I really just liked the colors. The colors included are Sweet Hook, Spontaneous, Grape Pop, and Crimson.

Phew! Everything except the Halo Hues from Color Club were on sale in one way or another, so overall (Color Club nail polishes included) I paid less than $3 per bottle, which is a steal in the nail world.

Alrighty, break time over! Time for me to begin the dreaded process of cleaning and organizing the entire house!
