Date Received: July 26, 2016

Cold Sniff: 5/5 Very authentic to the scent description. I don't have much to add to this, besides yum.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire living room.

Melting Power: 4/5 I got about six and a half hours of scent from one tart.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Weight Melted: 1.0 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 A wonderfully sweet fall type aroma with some bakery aspects added in. Think sweet cinnamon apples, a dash of incense, and a heaping of pie crust.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 No surprises once melted.

Scent Strength: 1/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the entryway, hallway, kitchen/dining area, office, and part of the living room.

Melting Power: 4/5 I got six hours of scent from one cookie.

Repurchase: Yes! This was one of those scents that was light in strength but managed to pull it off splendidly. If you want a nice, light fall scent that won't punch you in the face, this is the place to go.

Candles From the Keeping Room - Snowballs

Scent Description: A sexy, spicy blend of peppercorns, nutmeg, and fresh clove; embodied with notes of elderberries, blackberries, plums, and fresh green oakmoss; with magical, effervescent top notes of carbonated fizzy pop and just a hint of cool mint.

Weight Melted: 0.9 oz

Location of Warmer: Living room, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 5/5 Oakmoss is the bed of this blend, with a heavy mix of mint. On top lay peppercorns, a dash of nutmeg, and a healthy dose of fresh clove. Somewhere hidden in between these ingredients are the slightly tart and sweet hints of berries. I feel like I'm walking down the Christmas decoration aisle of any generic craft store you can think of.

Warm Sniff: 5/5 No surprises once melted.

Scent Strength: 2.5/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area, the hallway, the office, the entryway, and part of the living room.

Melting Power: 4/5 I got about 7.5 hours of scent from one snowflake.

Repurchase: Yes! This was a pleasant, earthy take on a classic Christmas scent.

Candles From The Keeping Room - City of Lights

Scent Description: A blend of cinnamon buns and lavender and a hint of magic.

Weight Melted: 1.1 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 3/5 There is something musky in here. A little minty. I can't say I pick up on any lavender. If there were lavender, it would have to be the herbal kind.

Warm Sniff: 3/5 There is a very slight hint of herbal lavender mixed with a cinnamon musk.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: 2/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area and hallway.

Melting Power: 3/5 I got about 3.5 hours of scent from one tart.

Repurchase: No. I wasn't that much of a fan of this blend. It's barely like its scent description and what is there manages to compete with itself in a way that didn't seem right.

Candles From the Keeping Room - Candy Coated Pecans

Scent Description: No scent description available.

Weight Melted: 1.1 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 Soft glaze, a blast of cinnamon, and slightly nutty pecans.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 The cinnamon lightened up a little once melted, but was still definitely there.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 Filled the kitchen/dining area, hallway, and office.

Melting Power: 4/5 One tart gave me about 7 hours of scent.

Repurchase: Yes! I can't help but feel like any fall/winter themed scent will be an instant repurchase in my book. Who doesn't love fall/winter?!?!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Juniper Berry & Cedar

Scent Description: Festive and clean. The perfect scent for spa or manly scents. Fruity and woody opening containing sparkling grapefruit, citron, and juniper berries followed by a middle note of wild ivy and finishing with a touch of warm white musk, cedar, and balsam.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Location of Warmer: Living room, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 5/5 Bath and Body Works Balsam and Cedar mixed with a dash of juniper berry. Super delicious for those of you who are into pine and wood scents.

Scent Strength: 2.5/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the entire living room, hallway, bedroom, and part of the kitchen/dining area. Super strong throw!

Melting Power: 5/5 I got about 11 hours of scent from one tart. Whoa, nelly!

Candles From The Keeping Room - Winter Candle Apple

Don't mind the out-of-focus, blurry shot.
Scent Description: Crispy apple, pineapple, zests of orange, neroli, cinnamon, sandalwood, fresh musk, bamboo, patchouli.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.0 oz

Location of Warmer: Living room, in tealight warmer.

Cold Sniff: 2/5 Musky note with a hint of generic, crappy Yankee Apple. Not any of Yankee's reformulations or better versions of Apple. Their really old, really plastic-ey apple.

Warm Sniff: 5/5 Ah, there's that delicious Winter Candle Apple we all know and love!

Scent Strength: 1.5/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire living room and just a little bit of the hallway.

Melting Power: 4/5 I got about 6.5 hours of scent from this tart.

Repurchase: Yes!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Caramel Apple Fritters

Scent Description: No scent description available.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Weight Melted: 1.7 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer.

Cold Sniff: 2/5 There was an incredibly strong butter note in this. Way way in the back, on the other side of the continent, hid some caramelized apples.

Warm Sniff: 2/5 Unfortunately, that butter note stayed strong even when melting.

Scent Strength: 3/3 It's hard not to notice when it smells like you're walking through a Butter Sauna. "Hello, would you like the sweet cream, European Style, or whipped, salted, and spreadable room?" On second thought, don't go to a Butter Sauna. Too many innuendos.

Scent Throw: >3/3 It. Was. Everywhere.

Melting Power: ?/5 I desperately held on for two hours before I had to call it quits.

Repurchase: No. All dramatic ramblings aside, this wasn't a scent I was overly fond of. If you're not a fan of strong, buttery scents, I would suggest you stay away. If that's your cup of tea, step right up and have at 'er!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Apple Peach Cobbler

Scent Description: No scent description available.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Weight Melted: 0.9 oz

Location of Warmer: Living room, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 5/5 Nice, spicy apples with a healthy side of bready peaches.

Warm Sniff: 5/5 No surprises once melted. Just delectable late fall/early winter goodness!

Scent Strength: 2.5/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire living room.

Melting Power: 5/5 I enjoyed 9 and a half hours of scent from one little pumpkin.

Repurchase: Yes! This was such a lovely scent. It helps that it's pretty, too. :)

Candles From The Keeping Room - Blueberry Pumpkin Patch

Scent Description: An autumn blend of fresh, farm picked blueberries and ripe pumpkins.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Weight Melted: 0.7 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 A delicious blend of blueberry muffins and pumpkins. I'm surprised I pick up a bakery note; it's nowhere in the scent description.

Warm Sniff: 5/5 Absolutely delectable and almost 100% authentic blueberries. They permeated the air and wriggled their way into my heart, boasting of green gardens and fields of pumpkins. There's something about the blueberry in this that kept me walking through the kitchen, asking for more. I burned three tealight candles to make doubly (triply?) sure all of the scent was gone.

Scent Strength: 2.5/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area, hallway, office, and part of the entryway.

Melting Power: 5/5 16 hours of scent from this little tart. Color me impressed!

Repurchase: Most definitely! This was a melted hit!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Sweet Harvest Moon

Scent Description: None available.

Date Received: July 26, 2016

Weight Melted: 0.7 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 2/5 One of those weird fake chocolatey melts with a hint of something leafy.

Warm Sniff: 2.5/5 The chocolate was still there, but it was subdued by the smell of cinnamon and fake leaves, kind of like fake scented holiday decor you might get from a craft store. It definitely wasn't my cup of tea, though.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire kitchen/dining area, hallway, and office.

Melting Power: ?/5 I only let it go for about two hours before calling it quits and switching the wax out.

Repurchase: Nope. I really wasn't a fan of this and tossed the other half of the corn. Ah well, you win some and you lose some.

Candles From the Keeping Room - Bendels Fig Type

Scent Description: A dupe of Henri Bendel Fig-a rich mediterranean Fig with sweet jasmine, spicy aise and sensual sandalwood. A fabulous green and spa type.

Weight Melted: 1.0 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 I was surprised when I read the scent description. This hit me as a very minty-woody scent, similar to BBW's Balsam & Cedar.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 No surprise, except for the knowledge that this does not match the scent description on Carol's website.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire kitchen/dining area, hallway, and office.

Melting Power: 3/5 I got about 4 and a half hours of scent from this melt. Pretty impressive, considering it's almost 4 years old and has been through many moves and storage systems. <_<

Repurchase: Eh? If I see it, I'll probably pick it up just because it was pleasant. I wouldn't make an order just for this scent, though.

Haul: Candles From the Keeping Room July 2016

This haul wasn't exactly planned. I happened to be on Facebook when Carol posted that the website was open, and after I consulted my handy blogging group of friends I decided to go ahead and place an order. I am in need of Fall scents, after all.

This order was placed on July 16 and it shipped on July 17. Carol and I had a pleasant exchange after she had some difficulties creating her shipping label for my purchase, and she insisted that I let her know when my package arrived safely.

Let's get to looking at the lovely wax!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Chocolate Lavender

Scent Description: None available.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 0.9 oz

Location of Warmer: Guest room, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 An intriguing blend of chocolate and lavender mixed with something else that's a mix of musky and creamy.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 No surprises once melted. The chocolate is more of a milk chocolate variety. The lavender is sweet. A surprisingly pleasant blend.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the guest room, entryway, hallway, part of the kitchen/dining area, and office.

Melting Power: 4/5 This lasted for about 6 and a half hours.

Repurchase: Yes! In fact, I already did repurchase this scent, albeit from a different vendor.  If Carol offers this scent the next time I'm looking to buy from her, I will definitely pick some up.

Candles From the Keeping Room - Sea Mist and Lavender

Scent Description: A sea mist mixed with lavender.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.1 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 A clean type scent. Salty, herbal lavender. I think I automatically associate anything sea salt with detergent/clean because that's what all of my cleaning supplies smelled like growing up.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 No surprises when melted.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the living room, hallway, office, kitchen/dining area, and entrance area.

Melting Power: 4/5 This lasted for about 6 hours.

Repurchase: Yes! I'm a lavender fan, and now I've found a clean lavender blend to get me hyped for house cleaning!... why am I excited about this? What is wrong with me?

Candles From the Keeping Room - Treasures of the Orient

Scent Description: Sultry and complex, a scent reminiscent of mulled pomegranate and rich spices of the Far East are imported into your home. Grassy orange and almond top-notes, complemented by middle notes of creamy plum, sassafras and jasmine, then balanced with base-notes of powdery musk and sugary dried fruit.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 0.9 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 It was an interesting, musky scent.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 I'll be frank. It's been almost 3 weeks since I melted this, and I did not write any notes on how it smelled once it melted. I just remember that it smelled very Christmas appropriate, and I liked it.

Scent Strength: 1/3

Scent Throw: 3/3 This filled the entire kitchen/dining area, hallway, and office.

Melting Power: 4/5 This melt lasted for about 7 hours.

Repurchase: Yes! I very much enjoyed it, even if I can't remember specifics about the scent... LOL

Candles From the Keeping Room - Red Saffron

Scent Description: Warm and spicy cardamom, pink pepper, grapefruit, mandarin, bergamot, sandalwood and musk.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.2 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 Wonderfully earthy, ever so slightly sweet incense.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 That sweet note died off and was replaced with a heavy bergamot. All of the other notes are there, albeit they blend together in an almost indistinguishable way. I still enjoyed this very much, but it almost felt like each note was choking the other out.

Scent Strength: 2/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the entire house, minus the guest room and master bedroom which both had their doors closed. While I enjoyed this, M was a very unhappy camper. I don't think he was a fan of this melt. LOL

Melting Power: 3/5 I got about 4 and a half hours of scent from this melt.

Repurchase: Yes! I quite enjoyed this earthy muskiness and it was a nice break from the bakery & sweet fruity scents I've been melting. I do wish that these sorts of scents translated better to wax, though. It's a lot of hit and misses for me, finding a scent that I liked in perfume form and finding a wax version that smells just as awesome.

Candles From the Keeping Room - Strawberry Dew

Scent Description: A lemon/lime fizzy pop that we have taken to a new level and laced in sweet strawberries.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.0 oz

Location of Warmer: Living room, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 3/5 Very, very fizzy mountain dew poured over sweet strawberries.

Warm Sniff: 2/5 Oh, my goodness. Fizz overload. The strawberries died off and I was left with a very very fuzzy & sweet drink that permeated the house.

Scent Strength: 2.5/3

Scent Throw: >3/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area, master bedroom, office, hallway, entryway, and living room. Then, while I was out of the house I could still smell it on my clothes.

Melting Power: >3/5 I left the house around the 4 hour mark and by the time I got back 8 hours had passed and the scent had pretty much disappeared.

Repurchase: No. That was entirely too strong for me. I may melt the rest of this bag in 1/2 or 1/4 tart bits when I crave a little fizz or to add some fizz to another scent, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing this on its own.

Candes From the Keeping Room - Pink Strawberry Chiffon

Scent Description:  Strawberry mixed with a hint of pink sugar and pink chiffon.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.0 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 50/50 Pink chiffon/strawberry. No pink sugar on cold sniff!

Warm Sniff: 4/5 The pink sugar came out a lot more and pink chiffon dropped to the side. All 3 were noticeable, though.

Scent Strength: 1/3

Scent Throw: 1.5/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area, some of the hallway, and some of the office.

Melting Power: 3/5 I got about 5 hours of scent from one tart.

Repurchase: Probably not. It didn't throw as far as I was hoping, was incredibly light in strength, and didn't last very long. Bummer, too, because I loved this scent and how it smelled!

Candles From the Keeping Room - Stiletto Blonde

Scent Description: White flowers, violets, hint of muskiness.

Date Received: February 2016

Weight Melted: 1.1 oz

Location of Warmer: Kitchen, in tealight warmer

Cold Sniff: 4/5 I quite enjoyed this floral musky blend.

Warm Sniff: 4/5 No surprises while this melted.

Scent Strength: 1/3

Scent Throw: 1.5/3 This filled the kitchen/dining area and some of the hallway. It never reached the office.

Melting Power: 2/5 I only got a little under 4 hours of scent from this tart.

Repurchase: No. It was a beautiful scent, but I was less than wowed by its performance.
